Yesterday I ended this series with a video by Pink Floyd, regarding the Planet or Mother Earth taking back what is her's, what is needed for life that we, humanity, have taken for granted in our 'quest for dominance'.  Going back to Genesis, once more, we see that there is a Separation after the Fall of Man between humanity and God, between humanity and animals and between humanity and the Earth.  Many think that the earth, the plants, so forth are simply organic 'dead' material, that they have no spirit or soul within and that because of this what we humans do to them does not matter to God.  Many who are of the religious mindset believe that the scripture in Genesis where God says 'let them have dominion and subdue the earth' means 'let them have their dominance, control and do as they damn well please'.  But nothing could be further from the truth.

and since then Mother Earth, like the Video, that untamed bird [played by Miley Cyrus] has been through evolution, Especially today, Fighting back.  And that is what I want to focus on today and I have decided to add a Section 3 to this series, because Section 3 [and possibly 4] I am going to bring into this the numerous Scriptures in the Word of God referring to the care of Mother Earth, the Plagues that are the result of sin and disobedience and disrespect to God and the final outcome. Rather than add the video once more, I want to instead add the Lyrics with photos, of how Mother Earth, is screaming, I can't be tamed by you humanity and how She is fighting back, and WHY that is.  [if you are not familiar with the video, see post below]

I am dividing Part 2 of this Series into two or three parts, depending on how much information I decide to put into, because after this Series I will be following up with a comparative analysis on today's spiritual warfare and the story line of Final Fantasy 7, that relates to much of what I will be writing about here.  Before I begin, however, I wanted to add a few things to last night's post, on confronting patriarchal fundamentalism or fundamentalism and what I said about the Bible, etc.  I thought and prayed about this, this morning and I got a  lot of answers, more like a Closure on all the numerous things the Spirit has been showing me this past year, putting all the 'puzzle' pieces together so to speak.  Anyway, what I wrote about the Bible may be misleading to some so I'd like to clarify, this is in regards to the post below or last night's post.  When I say I question the legitimacy of the Bible that does not mean I don't Believe in the Bible, because I do, however I am very skeptical of the translations, the putting the Canon together and how much of the literal word is true.  I Do believe that in numerous ways the Bible was tampered with by power monger men who utilized the letters and testimonies for their own Political gain, to control the minds through Fear.  Oddly however, if you read the Bible through the lens of love, the Holy Spirit, it will show this,

to me it's like a type of spiritual book that can be Used for either good or evil, depending on who is reading and Why they are reading, teaching, so forth....because it IS of the Spiritual Realm.  In a more simpler way of explaining, to me it's like a 'magic' book, OK, like in that movie Charmed, which of course is about witches and sorcery, warlocks, wizards, and all that, they had the book of Shadows....now the Bible is Not a Book of Shadows BUT to those who are of the 'dark forces' by either their choice or their desire the Bible can be used as a form of shadows, what Daniel called Dark Sentences.  And I think, how some of this is done IS through the use of language, now I can't outline the details of this, but it's what I've seen spiritually and I guess the best way to describe this is that the Bible is a key of sorts, hidden among truths and lies, and this is why so much Evil can be done, yes through using the Word.  Personally, not a thus saith the Lord, but personally I think some of the writing of the Bible, had some deliberate attempt at doing this--that God allowed maybe, I don't know, but I think, the KEY is, those who Choose Love over Power, will see it, those who Choose Love over Measurement, will see it, through the work of the Holy Spirit.  

I don't have as much problems with the Old Testament or with the Gospels [Jesus's Word] as I do with the Pauline Letters, of which If taken literally can be weapons of death, same with the Old Testament.  Some of this again goes back to the use of language and how language depicts what we see in the Material World, how we measure, judge, etc., but without the spirit the keys are easy to miss, and that may be done on purpose....remember God said these things are hidden to those who are of no faith, or when Paul said the heard but didn't believe because their Hearts did not have faith--Faith works by LOVE, not 'eros' love, not matter love, but Love, God's kind of Love, not Religious pretense love, but Love that is Truth. To close Jesus said,

OK, going back to original topic at hand...Hannah Montana, a few days ago I wrote about the music video "I Can't Be Tamed" and the uproar it has caused and the brilliant meanings behind that video that I believe many missed.  Just my opinion on this, not saying that she or the market she works for Deliberately put those meanings into the video or the song for that matter, but they are there and so I wanted to explore them because they Do address several important issues we are facing today.  The oppression and caging of the environment, of animals and of women.  Right now I want to focus on the environment [Mother Earth] and the parallels To that degradation of the environment for Idolatry and the debasing of Women, She, and why both are in fact, an outright slander and attack on God, the Creator who is both Male AND Female.  Fe-Male, both, we have a difficult time in seeing how this could be without the dividing etc., but if you study plants then it's not so hard to see or understand how something Spiritual could yes [and I believe IS] both male and female, or FE-MALE.  With the Fall came the division and death of the FE-MALE, in the world of matter,

human matter that is.  The first clue of this is right after the fruit of knowledge is taken, when Adam and Eve [remember they didn't see until After Adam had eaten] realized they were Naked.  That was the Division or Separation right there, not down the road, the death had already begun, the separation of two in one unit into enemies.  Naked means shame, but what is interesting to have shame, naked one has to have self hate, self loathing, so really the First Separation was the separation of self from God.  God is love therefore to be separated by a lie is to have self hate.  From there we see a spiral moving downwards into an abyss of hate, separation, blaming each other, lording it over and pain and murder and so forth....but what I want to focus on is the other part we Don't hear about in religion, and that was the Separation from the Earth, our Mother in God [FE-MALE, the FE],


now, before I post the video let me say, when I say Mother Earth, do not think New Age, because I'm not talking here about Worshiping the Mother Earth, or asking you to look at the Earth as a separate Unit, Mother, instead, remember, God created the earth and space, etc., with His Word, Let there be.....then the Lord God put two trees, Tree of LIFE and Tree of Knowledge of good/evil, in the Creation those Trees work like an invisible string and in the first Creation Story remember God said, let the earth bear plants, trees, etc., that bear seed after their own kind and then the animals were created not All from the dirt/earth but only those who crawled on earth, remember the birds created out of sky and fish, etc., out of ocean/waters.  Try to imagine an invisible string/s and a physics force, atoms, molecules, etc., and yes there was some form of evolution Because after the first creation story it says, These are the GENERATION'S, that implies time.  Also when God made man He also said Replenish the earth, to replenish means something had to have been Before, an interesting observation from a poster over at GLP.  Anyway, the Lord God made or formed Adam out of Dust, Clay from EARTH, earth our Mother....that dust scientists know today, which is a combination of ELEMENTS, are in Outer Space.  The breathe [air] comes from God...Father, this is also similar to Native Indian beliefs.  Anyhooo.....if you are having trouble with the elements thing, remember your body has to have all elements in diet/vitamins and minerals And air and water to live--get these out of balance and you have serious problems, etc.  So, we are made up of elements from Earth and Sky [air, water, etc] so yes, Mother Earth, Father Sky, God being all of it...not Pan now, but God.  [I throw that in there because of the Fear factor of Religion that blinds people, there are Numerous scriptures to back all this up but it would take literally a Book to get into here] 


so, ok so Adam and Eve disobey God and then the Separation...what I want to focus on or get your eyes toward is the Separation from the Earth, the Garden of Eden [has  several meanings by the way] and recall, the beginning, let them have dominion on the Earth, etc., the Lord God puts Adam and Eve in the Garden and says let them TEND to the Garden...Dominion and Tend are two different things, One of the theories I have [not a thus saith the Lord] is that the first story is creation of angels and the second, the Lord God is creation of man, because there ARE differences in the two.  This would explain why the serpent told Eve, you'll be as the 'gods', If the angels fallen were ruling and slaving then possibly Adam and Eve wanted freedom from that OR maybe they wanted to BE gods, I don't know wasn't there and again this is all speculation....If my theory is right then this was a war possibly for dominion [and a school lesson by God, the mystery] and well, this Would go along with the ancient creation stories of the Sumerians, etc., and remember, later in Genesis, when Adam and Eve were kicked out of garden the Lord God said, 'they NOW know good and evil like Us', etc., Lest they take of the Tree of Life put cherubim s, etc., two flaming swords, so forth...I wondered about this, IF they had of been able to take of the Tree of Life there would be no hope for humanity, so Obviously there is more To this whole process or reason behind all of Why we were created and so forth, I tend to believe this is a 1. school and 2. a choice and 3. a sorting at the end, etc., just my opinion, and it's to be like the angels, Servants of God, for the next earth, etc., not Lords or 'gods' but Servants, based on what the angel says to John in Rev, you're a fellow Servant.  Remember God's good angels always say, do not worship me but the only God, etc.  God knows both good and evil, so then His servants/children to be in His likeness also must know--would be kind of difficult to serve God in eternity and not know, then we'd be robots/slaves, and that btw obviously was one of the Lies of the serpent, when we Love and Serve that isn't Slavery, that is LOVE.  


So...the separation between man/woman [Adam and Eve] and separation between them and God [lack of love/shame, etc] and then the separation between man, woman and Earth...in this video, rather than look at Miley as bird as female here, look at it from the perspective of her, that bird being what Mother Earth is singing, saying...

Let's look at the video again before I continue...





In the beginning we see Miley, the bird ducked down in the nest shamed, hiding, from the probing eyes of the buyers, etc.  Then she rises up and sings she can't be Tamed, well Mother Earth can't be tamed either,

the belief is that the world [nature] and animals were turned violent/wild with Adam and Eve after the fall, I tend to believe that it was human Nature and the spiral to death that Corrupted the Earth, as the Lord God says in regards to Noah, the flood, that the Earth herself had become Corrupted.  We know in evolution that animals adapt new methods to survive the Onslaught of Mankind on this planet--a.k.a. Corruption.  The Bird represents the animals and Mother Nature [earth] being Pissed, one that they are now under the rule of FALLEN SINFUL HUMANITY and then two they are now in a DEFENSE POSITION.


Remember the Earth gives us LIFE.  The Native Indians [and other native tribes/indigenous peoples] as Well as the Old Testament Hebrews [fact] believed that our Life, water, food, corn, wine were from the Earth, GOD and that there was to be Respect to GOD and to the EARTH, there were Numerous laws in OT law about the caring for Mother Earth, and yes GOD did refer to EARTH as SHE.  The Penalty of degrading, abusing and corrupting Mother Earth, by worshiping other gods, idols which are things taken from LIFE things such as trees and turning them into objects then Worshiping those and wanting more, more, and more brought GOD'S PUNISHMENT AND WRATH...same goes for the blood letting, remember after Abel was killed, the blood cries out from the ground, GOD told Noah later that blood spilled on earth WOULD BE REQUIRED at HIS hand,


it's serious business spilling innocent blood onto the earth, the Mother--OT law, do NOT boil the goat kid in Mother's Milk, that is what that means...because it was Representative of what Humans with greed, lack of love, etc., DO to our Planet.


Can't be Tamed...WE like the SERPENT have been raping and plundering and dominating the Mother Earth for goods, food [over zealously so], for OIL, for tons and tons and tons of CLOTHES, TO COVER OUR 'NAKEDNESS', our Shame in being ourselves, etc., to hide under that Pretense,


and she is saying, all over, I CAN'T BE TAMED...BY YOU,


and more and more Humanity in their attempt to Dominate the Earth, are bringing about their own

Miley Cyrus (HANNAH'S) 'CAN'T BE TAMED' AND THE 'GENIUS' BEHIND IT THAT SADLY MANY DIDN'T 'GET', PART 1

PART 1 

For months I had heard from various youth that Hannah Montana had gone down the tubes so to speak with her new style, etc.....we are I'm sure all aware of the downward slope of the music industry and the exploitation of girls/women In that industry, the market of soft porn sex, etc..  Personally I do not believe that it's the Innocence Disney then the Slutty Emerging into the Mainstream that is often spouted by the public, quite the contrary, the 'exploitation' Begins with the LIE of the innocent 'virginal' creature Snow White.  The patriarchal 'fuck-rape' dream of the virgin, begins in the imagery of Fairy Tale.

But my focus here today isn't on That aspect so much as it is on the genius and very Truth telling exposure from a video that I believe due to the usual marketing/style of devirginizing Snow White in the music industry, Many did miss.  And in fact, the clever message if any were to Look beyond the Shock of a girl grown into woman, Hannah, and see the other meanings, they would find I believe, two very Serious Issues confronting the world today,

the oppression of women And

the oppression of the animals and environment, pay attention to the latter Especially.

Let's begin, with the video--watch two times, and pay attention to the Other details behind Hannah's dancing, etc.





The video begins with a showing of a rare species in an exhibit for the obviously 'elites' of society, this isn't new news btw, in not so ancient times people with disabilities, mental and physical, were Put onto display for public ridicule, dark entertainment and mocking...of course for the profit of the handlers and these cruelties Still exist today in many parts of the world...though I won't get into this here but we could include Porn here, especially hard core/war porn, etc., because it's basically the same thing--voyeurism getting off on violence, spectacle and imprisoning of those weaker or defenseless.  And it's obvious from the video and what we know about the music industry/movies, etc., that the song is about the role expectations and pressures put onto those in the industry for the feasting of the public--the public representing the elite and/or vampires in a consumerist society especially.

However I would like for you to focus on another point that this video I believe does bring out and that is the voyeurism humanity has towards Animals and Environment.  The treatment of animals, environment and Women is intertwined, the entitlement belief to enslave, pillage, chain and CAGE for the amusement and titillation of the voyeur/master/handler  are in fact Identical, in nature, in ritual and in the violence of the colonization.  The intended result is to break the Spirit of the 'pet' within the cage so that the 'pet' can never leave, escape or love from their own autonomy.  

The song, she repeats several times that she can't be tamed, yet in the end of the video she is still in the cage...the question that Should be asked here is what happens to the Spirit of the one in the cage, be it animal, environment or woman?  While they may be subdued, their Spirit will never completely be tamed nor die to the desire for freedom, the desire to spread their wings and fly and to breathe without the suffocation of the serpent so to speak that is always upon them.  One of the best examples of this Truth is what happens to actual Birds who are taken from their natural habitats including those who are bred in so called 'bird mills' and then taking these birds and putting them into a cage, as 'pets' and then attempting to 'change them' like the song says into a creature that is in compliant agreement with the master/handler or owner

when in fact, they never truly are.  This is why birds wings have to be clipped, it doesn't matter if one keeps that bird and spoils it with plastic toys [not natural or native to their Native habitats] feeds it the best of dietary food, handles it often, If and When that bird's wings grow back that Bird will Always attempt to fly away if a window is open or a door, etc., Because that is what birds by Nature were created for, they were created From the Sky, the Bible says [for those who don't believe in the Bible we could use simple physics of wing structure, birds were Not created to live in cages, it's that simple] and they were created to FLY,

not be 'pets'.  Now one Can free flight train a bird [parrot,etc] and due to the Trust built and the fact that the bird is allowed to Be a Bird, that bird will usually fly back but even in Those conditions there has to be a long amount of training, certain environmental conditions so not to spook the bird and so forth, because it is Still not 'nature' or natural.  

And yes many will say, "Oh but it isn't Like that with MY bird, MY pet, my pet loves me, etc.", as a parrot rescuer [very small scale, I don't take in parrots today but I still have four that live with our family] I can Assure you, no matter how much that parrot/s may Love you, given the chance, even with years of forced domestication, that parrot/bird Cannot be tamed...given the chance, that bird will break away and fly....because Instinct is a force that No Human can erase....break, dis-empower, cripple yes, erase NO.

And this is what happens when the Spirit of a bird, left in a cage, is broken...it is not pretty,

This is the image, the TRUTH, about the condition of the Spirit within a caged pet bird...the same is true when humans attempt to cage Women especially in patriarchal-misogynist societies and the same is true when Humans attempt to cage the Environment....the recent oil gushing in the Gulf should not need photo images to relay the brutal truth of this fact,

when Humans play 'god', they do not give LIFE, but rather they cage and enslave the Spirit that should have

never been tamed....

to begin with.  

The definition of 'tame' is 1.  reduce from the state of Native Wildness as to be able to control, 2.  to force submission, and 3.  lacking spirit, zest, etc.,

While many may have scoffed, laughed, ridiculed this video due to the music industry influence/content and exploitation that yes the Public is more responsible for than the industry itself, remember its Supply and DEMAND, not just Supply,

what many Didn't see, is the background of this video....let's go back and watch it again, and See if you can pick out the other 'chained' beings and symbolism's of these...



Notice first the Raven wings, a bird that has been for centuries demonized as an 'evil' symbolism, however in the Bible, the Raven was the first to be set free from the ark, Noah's ark.  The Raven which yes is a scavenger is also one of the most playful birds in the wild, with a sense of humor.  Fact is these birds are highly intelligent and extremely beneficial to humanity.  I believe and as one documentary revealed that IF not for the Ravens, during the Black Plague, or Black Death, more humans would have died due to the spread of that disease because the dead were put onto the streets as there was not enough people to bury them in time and the Ravens, being the 'nature' scavengers they are while eating the remains prevented further spreading of the plague which nearly wiped out all of Europe.  

The other symbolism's are for one the Polar Bear behind the window of obviously a 'museum', a place where humanity holds the conquests of human knowledge endeavor under yes often the guise of 'enlightenment' and even 'education' and where cities of great wealth and the elites can showcase their wealth of conquest of such knowledge, including stuffed animals that were one time hunted or that may still be hunted.  Ironically however with all the museums and zoos and all the education and caging and showcasing of these animals we Still have not come up with the knowledge on how to preserve them and End the exploitation of animals...today we Still have people who see nothing wrong with butchering animals simply to wear their fur...in temperatures that these furs are Not even necessary....they are simply worn to show off wealth, prestige and glamor.  At the expense of the animals of course,

the Native Indians believed you use every part of an animal taken and Only from earth what you Need...


there is much wisdom in that,


and today, Polar Bears are dying because of mass consumption, which causes global warming and so forth.  I will expand more on the environmental in the following series on this video and others,

Why We Need More than Anti-Sweatshop Activism

I am doing the Unthinkable, :0,

I am posting here, an article, from a rather 'left' site [yes, Union, probably more socialist-even communist] on the issue of Sweatshops. I know, I know, some of you will just be beside yourselves but Before you go off in a fury, do me a favor,

read the Article first. While I am NOT a 'socialist', been there and done that and I do NOT agree with many of their stands, [esp the lack of Women's Autonomy, the all boys club was a big Turn off for me why I got out of the far left]

I Do have to say, when it comes to exposing the TRUTH about Labor [women labor included] and the exploitation of AND the Complicated obstacles workers and communities face when Dealing or confronting these infrastructures they are some of The Best when it comes to Analysis of the problems.

So, readers for a Better Understanding of Why there are Sweatshops and Why it difficult in eradicating them And other forms of slavery, it sometimes is beneficial read those who spend their lives fighting for yes, worker rights. Because they do their research AND they talk person to person WITH those very workers who are fighting for rights we take for granted.

I am doing some research on women and labor/textiles and sewing, [including some from Biblical days and Christian women then and Textiles, oh Yes! Finding an Anti-Sweatshop Strategy That Works by Jeff Ballinger

That nearly twenty years of anti-sweatshop activism has come to naught is suggested by the cost breakdown of a $38 University of Connecticut hoodie that appeared in the Hartford Courant a couple of years ago: the workers received a mere 18 cents, while the university received $2.24 in licensing fees. (Mexican factory: profit, 70 cents; overhead, $2.12; material, $5.50–distributor [Champion]: overhead $5.10; profit $1.75–Seller [UCONN Co-Op]: overhead, $14.49; profit, $4.50). The workers’ share could hardly have been lower when the movement began.

Given the worldwide financial crisis, it is a safe bet that fighting sweatshop abuses here and abroad will not be a key policy undertaking for Barack Obama and his team. But this does not rule out a wide-ranging set of initiatives that would significantly empower workers. Tweaking our foreign assistance priorities, revising “democracy promotion,” and undertaking diplomacy from a community organizer’s perspective—these changes in U.S. policy would at least begin an assault on global sweatshop practices. And they are especially important as an antidote to the solipsism of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), wherein corporate “self-regulation” teams are rebranded as “activists” by lazy and compliant media. The new administration needs to connect with real labor activists, in Asia and Central America especially, and allow them to speak for themselves.

But first we need to collect information on sweatshop practices abroad and make it available to activists, who often can’t collect it themselves.

Egypt, Cotton, and Slavery and the Weaving of Women's Oppression all Tied In

Not sure about the title...but, it's a start...to where this discussion will be going [see post below]. Again, many may ask, what in the world are issues about oppression of women, chauvinism, sex slavery, trafficking-slavery which is what it is, doing on a Website about Sewing and Needle Work?

Because with Textiles, comes the history of slavery and current slavery, the exploitation of women' s labor, the Feminization of based and rooted on the exploitation of women's labor AND the 'religious and cultural' influences of the 'superior male' to the 'inferior female', a.k.a. Misogyny, Racism and Hierarchies, the Misogyny of 'beauty standards for male desires' marketed to women that is often tied into Porn culture in what we know as the Fashion Industry---where it is Women who consume, at the same time those 'externals' exploit women and children [often in same countries that exploit for cotton, food goods, minerals] in the sex slavery industrial complex and today that industry is not only global it is huge....

its all tied into SLAVERY. In one form or another, it all Feeds into Slavery, and we Women, are influenced and/or effected by it, in ways we may not be conscious of, but we are, in our intimate lives, in our consumption AND in how society-culture relates to us, as Human beings,

or as

Objects.

The thing is, we cannot 'separate' art from oppression, particularly in Textiles because it is in Textiles, one of the top global industries where the oppression of women AND slavery still continues to thrive AND where the wide gap between privilege and 'oppressed' is blatantly glaring. I wrote on this just recently--see map, a typical 'visitor's site map on the majority of art-textile blogs'



That map alone---speaks Volumes, about the wide disparity of freedom to create, for women especially, what Privilege is. On the 'blue' dots there is mass freedom and room of her own, to create, to live, to thrive, to flourish...as well as purchasing goods that assist in business, in textiles,

from those very Blank areas where the majority of women and children work in sweatshops, are trafficked [in domestic slavery, sweatshop slavery and esp in Textiles, in cotton slavery, in food crop slavery, in sex slavery--trafficking] and where women are paid the lowest, oppressed both by religion, men AND political systems and where they have no Room of her own, to create or do much else, they don't even have the room to Think free or even to Voice their rage--not without extreme penalty, from rape to torture to death, in slow horrible ways. And what is tragic is that it's Their oppression...

that we, benefit from, in one way or another.

The Ugly Side of Textiles, and one that can not just be swept under the rug OR masked over or ignored, because that gap,

is beginning to close.

With the introduction of the CPSIA law, we saw that---how large corporate supported 'laws' [ironically under the guise of consumer protection and ethics--of course throwing women off the bus literally and assisting those very corporations, in China, for example, that Thrive on trafficked slavery, from North Korean women working in sweatshops to Chinese women to children...that they have found Chained, literally to sewing machines--all for those tee shirt and cheap goods quotas]. And lead poisoning---won't even go there, it would take a Book--to expose the misogynist Hypocrisy and Class hypocrisy on that one---cutting the throats of women in cottage industries while its batteries, electronics/tech and Arms manufacturing that produce the largest percentage of Lead poisoning in Thailand and other nations, of course, can't touch those, Especially military arms, why, what would boys do without the Killing Toys? [sorry, I do get a bit venting here on these issues]

My point is, Women, is that whether women realize the full impact or not, WE do effect one another GLOBALLY, in so much that we do that may seem innocent enough, from buying that dress or fabric, that material dyed with harmful chemical toxins BANNED in the West by children in North Africa to buying 'cotton' farmed by CHILD SLAVES,

while we are free to create---millions of women still live in the Dark Ages, under laws that we couldn't even BEGIN to comprehend just how Totalitarian and Misogynist they are.

And it IS all connected, from the macro to the micro levels...sure, we can reconstruct and do our little part,

but IS it enough?

Maybe the question is, Do we have a responsibility to our neighbor and if so, then Who is our neighbor?

Jesus gave a good example of 'what it means to love thy neighbor' with the story of the Good Samaritan,

notice it wasn't the 'man robbed and beaten' that walked over to the people passing by and asking for help, no,

it was the people passing by, several who just saw and ignored...and then one, who Went over, took the man, bound up his wounds, dressed him, fed him, and then found him shelter.

The Good Samaritan WENT to the man, to help...

today, we have many women and children in our world, who are that beaten one pillaged by men, robbed, souls destroyed, exploited,

do we just pass by,

or do we stop, and Do something?

And worse, do we just 'hide' and pretend not to see? In our worlds of beauty?

And worlds, I might add, that are connected and are tied into Their oppression.

That, that is the question...what do WE do?

p.s. On another note, sad news, Mary Daly passed away, a brilliant feminist scholar who did so much to empower women and to challenge patriarchy. While I didn't concur with her on all points, she was and still is a huge influence in my life---my work, her and Andrea Dworkin...women whom I believe God used to empower me and to inspire me--to give me strength. You see it was Daly's works that helped me when I was in the 'far left' and confronting them on Their betrayals [and may I say, the liberal left as well] to women--it was her works that helped me to understand the 'painted bird', the token Patriarchal woman--and the far left has their patriarchal women Just as much as the 'misogynist fundie Christian lot' has theirs and Islam has theirs and so forth....women who are Parrots--for men who hate women. Women I might add, are not just 'ignorantly' patriarchal [where I don't concur with Daly or many rad fems] but women who Willingly oppress other women for Their advantage...they Do exist,

just as much as there are men who are NOT misogynist do exist. Where I do still concur with the Marxist feminist...but Daly's analysis on so many things rang true for me, and still do. She will be missed,

and she, along with so many other women whom I admire and who have inspired me, to think, to question, from Marxist Modotti to Kahlo to Dworkin to Daly to so many others, who Dared to challenge the status quo, who DARED to walk contrary to patriarchy and male supremacy in all its forms...

they have helped make me the person I am today...not only that, they've helped me, to see God in a totally different way--in that I questioned, and kept questioning, and it was that questioning my 'faith' that lead me to a deeper relationship with Jesus, dumping the Religion and the doctrines of MEN. [and religion]

It is the weaving of all of them, that has given me the strength to continue in advocacy on behalf of women...even in the face of hatred, often standing alone [or so it seems]. If not for these women,

I don't know if I would be as conscious as I am today or if I would have been able to go on, and not give up in the fight for women's freedom from abuses and abusive systems. I thank God, for courageous people, who put the welfare of others, above their own. To me, that really is, what Love is,

may I learn, to really Walk in that Love.

note: Remember I told you I don't fit into any 'box', I'm a 'leftist'Independent-I do concur with the Right on some things] more like it, Christian--an odd one at that if one wants to call it that and a feminist, not that this matters but I havve found that due to 'think boxes' people tend to think with prejudice,meaning, for example, if I confront the misogyny and tyranny of Islam immediately people think, oh, she's a neo-conservative, because those are the demonized labels cleverly used to box people in and to silence dissent. Same goes for Christians who deem in their prejudice any one who leans to the left or feminism in any issue that they are either New Age, anti-God or Liberal morally, etc., another means of demonizing and silencing dissent. For years I have felt compelled to 'explain' myself so to fight these labels, to get the message through, it's only been recently that I understand how dogma, that totalitarianism, works through demonizing the opposing view, to silence dissent--it can be right wing or left wing or even liberal/centralist.

It is very difficult in this embrace dogma day and age to be an 'issues' oriented rather than a 'philosophy' oriented, even more so if one's faith is at the core--just not the stereotypical definition of 'faith' as its often been portrayed, maybe I should clarify that more. My knowledge of this fact comes from years of having been intimate with both extremes and group think--dogma, to me its all dogma, a lot of it, simply 'dung' -- maybe where the more knowledge 'humans' spew the more 'dumb' [dumb as in Vanity] they become-- the evidence of this fact is that with all the technical advancements we as humanity devolve, rather than evolve--the genocides and Gendercides, is proof of this-- God was right, we are not 'gods' and we are failing in our experiment to 'be gods'....eh, just thought I'd throw that one out there]...

THE 'UGLY' SIDE OF TEXTILES, SEWING, EMBROIDERY

Notice anything about this map? This, is a typical 'map siting' for logging visitors on most women authored blogs here in the West, that have to do with sewing, needlepoint, art, textiles, etc. IF there was any image that can show the Stark Contrast of 'class and privilege' on a Geo-Political Scale--THIS IS IT.

Now, you would Think, that many would simply take notice of this map and maps like it all over the blog world and See that there is a Huge GAP,

but sadly, many not only do NOT notice, many flat out don't care. And THIS is the Ugly Side of Textiles--the Mommy Blogger World--the Indie Businesses and Embroidery-Needle Works world. This is the World that most avoid 'talking' about because to talk about it means one has to 1. look at it, and 2. see where 'they' themselves fit into this world gap. Not so pretty and pastel then,

add to that, that on the side of the world where there are the Most Visitors to 'art-craft-sewing' blogs to that where it lays white and blank--Ironically, it is in those white and blank areas where the Majority of

1. sweat shops and slave camps are that are yes, mostly Women and Children working in them

2. trafficking routes [including To the U.S.A.]

3. environmental abuses, including dyes with chemicals made by children, who are Forced to use hands/feet working with extremely Toxic chemicals Banned in the West, to make those 'pretty fabrics' that we buy-sell here for a fraction meanwhile the dyers in those nations, many of them small children, die of horrid diseases From working with those chemicals for Starvation wages, IF they get a wage

4. not including the environmental damages, etc., to land and water...also cash crops for mass cotton that Could be used for Food

5. child slavery in cotton, etc, weaving, piece meal work, etc. ie. lace, embroidery, etc

And while we are here, with the beauty and frilly dainty things, With the time, it takes...why yes, in Today's world, though there ARE exceptions to this rule--the majority of the time, those women who do spend hours upon hours sewing, in art, etc., are married, are upper to middle class, and well--they have the 'privilege' while the other women are working, many in manual-blue collar labor, not having much choice But to shop at low end stores with the few hours a month of free time they might have and That's a big IF--IF they have the funds to do so, etc,etc,etc...in other words, there IS, YES, YES, YES, a HUGE

CLASS DIFFERENCE,


make NO mistake about it--with a FEW exceptions...though those exceptions, such as myself [low income, living in a mobile home, etc] ARE a minority--a small one at that.

But even I, am PRIVILEGED, in Start Contrast to the millions of women, who Don't blog, who Don't have the resources, time, to sew or even Think about the beauty we have here because Their world, Isn't pastel or lace or dainty or serenity, NO, not even,

their worlds are harsh, cruel, often bloody, violent, impoverished, void of vision. IS it because they are less brilliant or not as 'inspired', NO,

NO, and NO.

What is worse--is just How much of Their dark dreary world--is the Result, of OUR world--pillaging their world. Oh yes, kid your self not, we, in the West, have a LONG history of policies that have not only supported some of the worst despots but have PAID tax dollars to fuel and train militias, police terror, to protect precious resources,

resources fought over, in land grabs and power grabs, with Women and Children paying THE ultimate price--with their own BLood,

while, we,

enjoy the 'fruits' of it. And as a result--we sew, we do needlepoint, we create, and we chat and we share and we take pretty pictures...oh, sure, now and then, we might do an odd project here and there, for a charity--of course its Always mentioned, blogged about--its Good PR and its DAMN GOOD FOR BUSINESS,

yea, the Privilege UGLY side of the Textile world.

And I'm a part of it...well, small part--I am not 'IN' business yet,

but hey, I still benefit, from the resources that I DO have access too--so I'm just a part of it as every one else--So my point here, is NOT to heap up loads of guilt, no,

but to GET WOMEN TO THINK.

To really THINK, ABOUT THE GAP--THE WIDE GAP

AND TO ASK

WHY?

And why, in 2010, is it Still this way AND WHAT CAN WE 'DO' ABOUT IT, TO CHANGE IT?

DO WE CARE TO CHANGE IT?

That--fellow women, Is the Purpose OF this blog--for Both Women of Faith and Women in the Textile world [who may not necessarily be women who share the same faith]

but THAT is the Purpose of this blog--to use the Needle, to use the Pen, combined,

from a Grass Roots level,

to confront the Injustices, the Wide Gap--and

DO SOMETHING--TO BEGIN TO

CHANGE IT.

Somehow, someway--and NOT for a Public Relations project to 'boost business' [and I can't stand that btw] or to promote Etsy or any other conglomerates OR to be used as a Propaganda 'tool' to push political Ideologies, i.e. labor groups, political parties. [note: I have no problem with businesses that Do have a 'core' charity they work with All the time, want to note that here...its those, who will 'take' and 'exploit' issues, esp women, to boost Sales--THOSE I do take issue with...and it is one of the Biggest reasons I have put off the business I was wanting to create, For that reason, How to combine profit--because I have loans to pay, bills--and what I really Do care about--women's human rights and ending poverty--without exploiting misery, to do so--there are some real Ethics there, that I believe are simply not thought about enough--and they need to be. On the other hand--it takes Resources, funds, to Help, you know, its a double edged sword, I'm still trying to work out the ethics on that one, including IN my artwork, which does portray women around the globe, but HOW to do this, while preserving Dignity, without exploitation. Not an easy task, by no means...]

but to Get Real Focus, on many issues, that DO effect Millions of Girls and Women around the world.

I will say, it seems from my research that many photographers and painters Have been able to branch out more into this area, but there is a real Lack of this, in Textiles, and I believe it Is because, the Textile world in and of itself, is one of the Most exploitative worlds when it comes to exploiting the labor--of women and children,

the Feminization of Poverty.

On the other hand, the 'unions' and labor and more Radical of ideologies, have also exploited, by stripping and Demonizing women's work--while esteeming traditional 'male' values such as industry, and War, i.e. girls as combatants and sex slaves, Nepal, Sri Lanka, etc., why I can't stand 'that' side of the Deconstruction either...

its even More misogynist.


Question is, Can women in the Two Worlds unite--bridging together, to create Real Solutions?

They can't--if the privileged side, continues to remain in a protected pastel pink bubble--that works just as well as the Iron Red Curtain,

with the empty white spaces on the map--are shut off, in their worlds of hell.

They can't reach to us...but We, can reach to them,

all it takes,

IS THE WANT TO.
